A Few Words Of Advice to JD Academy Students
Hi. I am Mia Moran. I have a few things to share about a JD Academy journey.
First, don’t just show up. Show up every day with your best foot forward and treat every day like it’s something exciting. It is! It is hopefully the start of your lifelong career. Don’t come to school every day thinking, “I can’t wait to be a hairdresser one day, or I can’t wait to be an esthetician one day.” Each day is Day One. Be the star you want to be here. It all starts now.
You have excellent teachers and staff to get the foundation that really makes you feel good and ready to start in your field. I am so proud to say that I’m from JD Academy, and if you don’t feel that already, you will feel that at some point because everything here just comes together like a big puzzle. There are so many pieces, like every teacher, every phase, everyone I meet, and all I learned. I felt my passion for this industry elevated even more just from being at JD Academy. I will be forever thankful for my foundation, and I’m excited for the future.
Lastly, we are all friends. Community over competition! That’s very important when you’re at school, and make a plan for after school. It’s never too early to make that plan. Starting day one, you can already be thinking about where you want to go, researching, and asking questions, and with that plan in mind, it’s going to help you stay motivated because you’re going to need that motivation. You won’t want to show up every day with a smile, but just do it. I promise it’ll be worth it in the end.
Mia now has her state board license and is working as a stylist in Pleasanton, CA.
